Park Nicollet Melrose Institute expanding to Maple Grove

Park Nicollet Melrose Institute expanding to Maple Grove – Press release
6/25/2012

Park Nicollet Melrose Institute is bringing its specialized model of eating disorders care to Maple Grove. The Maple Grove location is an extension of the medical services offered to eating disorders patients at the Melrose Institute in St. Louis Park.

The new location at 9600 Upland Lane N. in Maple Grove will be a place for patients to meet with a team of physicians, dietitians and licensed psychologists to develop a personalized treatment plan that addresses each individual’s needs. Initial eating disorders assessments will be done at Park Nicollet—Maple Grove, which is located near the new facility.

"We are responding to the community's needs and preferences," said Carol Tappen, director of operations at Melrose Institute. "Our patients told us there was a need for an eating disorders treatment option close to home. With our Maple Grove clinic so close, it was a natural extension."

The new location will have a similar look and feel to Melrose Institute's main location in St. Louis Park, with comfortable décor and several large windows to bring in the natural light.

“We wanted a location with a less clinical feel,” said Tappen. “We wanted to mimic the beauty and serenity of our St. Louis Park location. People will feel comfortable walking through our doors.”

The Melrose Institute’s St. Louis Park location is the largest facility in the Upper Midwest designed exclusively for treating patients with eating disorders such as anorexia, bulimia and binge-eating. The three-story, 67,000 square foot institute includes a 30 bed inpatient unit and nine residential beds. It opened in March of 2009.
