In 2003, Park Nicollet Health Services built on its already extraordinary reputation for excellent care, outstanding quality improvement and leadership in patient safety, teaching and research.

Our patient safety and outcome efforts earned awards from the American Medical Group Association and Minnesota Hospital Association. The Commission on Cancer of the American College of Surgeons gave its highest rating to Park Nicollet Cancer Center, along with a three-year approval. Park Nicollet Foundation won a Community Health Commitment Award for its work as a founding partner of the “No Shots, No School” initiative. And, Park Nicollet Institute won a Silver Award for the video Joint Replacement and a Bronze Award for the revised edition of Well Advised from the National Health Information Awards Program.

While these honors illustrate our commitment to supporting the health, healing and learning of those we serve, they offer only a glimpse of the many care improvements and technological advances that make Park Nicollet Health Services a health care leader. As for the near future, in 2004, we begin constructing a new, state-of-the-art heart and vascular center on our Methodist campus and TRIA Orthopaedic Center, a joint venture between Park Nicollet, University of Minnesota Physicians and the Orthopaedic Center, in Bloomington, Minn. A new clinic location in Chanhassen also will expand our services to Minneapolis' southwestern suburbs.

There is much to be excited about, and our staff shares the joy of providing excellent care and service to the communities we serve. While being recognized by the Minnesota Hospital and American Medical Group associations for exceptional leadership and service to the industry, pleases me, the real joy is in leading an exceptional staff dedicated to improving the health of this community.
