Asperger’s disorder
Asperger’s disorder is an autism spectrum disorder (ASD). Children who have Asperger’s commonly have communication problems, difficulty being social with peers and repetitive interests and behaviors. Many times children will be interested in and have vast knowledge of specific subjects or activities.
Children with Asperger’s also can have difficulty with attention, impulsiveness, anxiety, mood swings, low tolerance for frustration, demanding expectations, motor skills and understanding information gained by the senses.
One of the issues that makes Asperger’s different from autistic disorder or pervasive developmental disorders – not otherwise specified, is how a child develops his or her core language skills by age 3.
