You will meet with a doctor, registered dietitian, and physical therapist who will walk you through this new phase of your life. This unique approach ensures you are prepared for this life-changing event.

Step-by-step approach
1. Free group information session
2. Assessment by a bariatric nurse clinician
3. Evaluation by a licensed psychologist
4. Meeting with a doctor, registered dietitian and physical therapist
5. Meeting with bariatric surgeon
6. Day of surgery
7. Follow-up care
history and current medical problems. The doctor will serve as a resource for your primary care provider by performing any additional medical evaluation to assure your readiness for surgery. The doctor also will assist with medical issues after surgery, which may be related to your bariatric procedure.

Registered dietitian

A registered dietitian evaluates your weight history, medical history and previous attempts at weight loss, and reviews a three-day food record. He or she will make suggestions for changing your current diet in preparation for surgery, and will make recommendations on your diet after surgery. The dietitian also will provide you with a personalized protein goal, recommendations on the necessary vitamins and minerals you will need and give you information on nutrition and dietary considerations.

Physical therapist

A physical therapist reviews your current exercise routine and helps you determine your pre- and post-surgery needs and goals. He or she also will help you develop an exercise plan to help you lose weight and maintain your health.

These health providers also will help you to understand what to expect after surgery.
