Description
This workshop provides an overview and demonstration of motivational interviewing (MI), an evidence-based, patient-centered directive method of communication. Clinicians can use MI to enhance a patient’s motivation to make behavior changes by exploring and resolving the patient’s ambivalence. Motivational interviewing technique is based on working in partnership with your patient when making care decisions, listening more than telling and honoring the patient’s autonomy, resourcefulness and ability to choose when and how to make changes.
