Description
Children, who compose one-fourth of the population in the United States, need preventive services. A large percentage of children also experience special health care needs, chronic illnesses and disabilities. Primary care clinicians routinely face challenging assessment and treatment decisions for children with strep throat, allergies, asthma, ear infections, obesity, autism and behavior issues. As a child’s first point of contact in the health care system, primary care clinicians need to be able to appropriately and effectively care for the unique needs of young patients. This includes screening, diagnosis, treatment and referral to specialists as needed to co-manage various conditions common in children. More
