Clinical Diabetes Management in Primary Care information
|
Primary care providers are increasingly responsible for diabetes management and education. This requires extensive knowledge of the natural history of diabetes and treatment options, plus the ability to help patients gain expertise in successfully managing their disease, day-to-day.
Clinical Diabetes Management in Primary Care uses lectures and interactive learning activities to communicate treatment options, based on the latest research and clinically-proven therapies. With an emphasis on application, this comprehensive professional program includes practice-based case studies and breakout sessions on specialized topics. Even those experienced in diabetes management will benefit from this program.
The content of this program is continually updated and new topics are added regularly. If you attended this program several years ago, it may be time for a refresher on the latest research, technology and practices.
Following this course, participants should be able to:
-
apply knowledge of underlying defects and the natural history of diabetes and associated complications in clinical practice
-
evaluate diabetes therapies and identify principles for selecting, combining and advancing therapies
-
modify diabetes management for special populations, such as senior, minority, low-income, pediatric and hospitalized patients
-
outline a systematic approach for screening and managing diabetes and diabetes complications
-
initiate insulin therapy based on patient assessment and adjust insulin dose based on pattern management
