Dates

Offered on an individual basis.

Location

Park Nicollet Clinic—St. Louis Park
3800 Park Nicollet Blvd.
St. Louis Park, Minn.

Audience

Primary care physicians specializing in diabetes, and endocrinologists who are involved in developing diabetes care guidelines and practices for health care systems and public health agencies.

Description

This specialized program discusses recent advances in therapies and technologies for managing glucose control in patients with diabetes. The customized program teaches practicing physicians how to select appropriate candidates, start and adjust treatment, and monitor changes in glycemic control using advanced therapies.

The program introduces the latest glucose monitoring technology, continuous glucose monitoring (CGM), and a novel approach to its representation and analysis. The advanced therapy, combined with new technology, gives practicing physicians a unique perspective on diabetes management.

Following this program, participants should be able to:

  • describe where incretin therapy fits within treatment of type 2 diabetes by customizing a clinical decision path
  • interpret an ambulatory glucose profile from continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) data by identifying glycemic patterns
  • evaluate the relationship between medication selection and patient behavior, to counsel the patient about changes in lifestyle when using incretin mimetics
