Program objectives

For more than 20 years, International Diabetes Center at Park Nicollet has provided a series of highly-regarded symposiums for advanced diabetes educators. This year’s program, “It Takes a Team! Working Together to Improve Diabetes Care,” provides a great opportunity for you to gain up-to-the minute information from well-respected professionals in the field.

Diabetes educators understand the challenges of making lifestyle changes, daily monitoring and the effect of diabetes on the body. The field of diabetes is constantly changing as new therapies are discovered, technologies are developed and research uncovers new ways to manage the disease. This conference will focus on team-based, patient-centered, diabetes care and will emphasize how diabetes care integrates resources from many disciplines and fields. It will highlight the latest therapies, technologies and research that are impacting diabetes care and demonstrate how a team approach can help improve outcomes.

This symposium is designed to provide the advanced diabetes educator with new approaches to motivation, innovation and technology with an emphasis on team-based, patient-centered care.

At the end of the program the learner will:

  • describe diabetes care that integrates resources from many disciplines and fields
  • discuss how the latest therapies, technologies and research are impacting diabetes care
  • restate the importance of patient-centered diabetes care
