Global Advanced Therapeutics and Technologies in
Diabetes Care information
|
Overview
This three-day intensive, specialized program meets the unique needs of international physicians by discussing recent advances in therapies and technologies for managing glucose control in patients with type 2 diabetes. The customized program teaches practicing doctors how to select appropriate candidates, start and adjust treatment, and monitor changes in glycemic control using advanced therapies focusing on incretin-based therapies. Opportunities to interact with patients who have experience with advanced therapies and technologies will be provided. IDC faculty work closely with participants throughout the program and are available during program breaks and meals for in-depth discussions.
The program introduces the latest glucose monitoring technology, continuous glucose monitoring (CGM), and a novel approach to its representation and analysis, ambulatory glucose profile (AGP). The advanced therapy, combined with new technology, provides a unique perspective on diabetes management.
Objectives
Following this program, participants should be able to:
- describe where incretin-based therapy fits within the treatment of type 2 diabetes by customizing a clinical decision path
- interpret an ambulatory glucose profile from continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) data by identifying glycemic patterns
- evaluate the relationship between medication selection and patient behavior, to counsel the patient about changes in lifestyle when using incretin-based therapies
