Complementary therapies
Complementary therapies support a patient’s medical care physically, emotionally and spiritually. Complementary therapies are not meant to act as alternatives to conventional care or to interrupt prescribed medical care.
Psychology, neurology and immunotherapy research indicates that relaxation, imagery, healing touch, reflexology and prayer can improve quality of life. The following mind-body therapies are available for a fee through Park Nicollet Cancer Center. For more information, call 952-993-5700.
Massage therapyMassage involves the therapeutic kneading of muscles with long, flowing hand movements to relieve muscular tension, stimulate circulation and bring feelings of deep relaxation and tranquility. |
Healing touchHealing touch is light, gentle touch used to promote relaxation and a sense of well-being by balancing energy. This therapy is ideal for managing fears and anxiety, preparing for medical procedures, decreasing pain and lessening side effects of chemotherapy and radiation therapy. |

ReflexologyReflexology is a gentle, noninvasive stimulation of reflex points on areas of the feet. The procedure helps release the nervous system from stress and relaxes the foot and corresponding body areas.
