Types of cancer
Many types of cancer exist, including the following.
SarcomaTumors that start in your bones or in the soft tissues of your body. Soft tissues include muscle, fat, blood vessels, nerves, tendons and the lining of your joints. |
CarcinomaCancer that begins in the skin or in tissues that line or cover body organs. For example, carcinoma can occur in the breast, colon, liver, lung, prostate and stomach. |
LeukemiaCancer of the blood cells, in which the body produces large numbers of abnormal blood cells. In most types of leukemia, the abnormal cells are white blood cells. |
LymphomaA type of cancer that begins in lymphatic tissue. The lymphatic system includes the spleen, thymus, bone marrow, lymph nodes and lymph channels, tonsils and adenoids. |
