Healing garden

Sandra’s Garden of Hope is located along the northwest edge of Frauenshuh Cancer Center. It features two acres of green space, 288 trees and inspiring beauty. Many patient rooms and windows inside the cancer center overlook the garden.

Sandra’s Garden of Hope, in honor of Sandra Frauenshuh, was developed to give patients, families and guests the opportunity for peaceful reflection within nature. The garden is anchored by a main promenade, symbolic of life’s journey. Extending from this main walk is a labyrinth, a meditation tool combining the imagery of a circle into a winding, but purposeful path representing the journey into our own center.

A donor circle made with more than a thousand bricks honors individuals, hope and strength. Beyond the donor circle are three benches and a bubbling water feature – a perfect area for quiet contemplation.

Spending time in nature or healing gardens can lower blood pressure for many patients, and speed recovery. We invite you to visit the healing garden on your next visit, and also walk the boardwalk alongside Minnehaha Creek.
