Hormone therapy
Hormone therapy prevents cancer cells from getting or using hormones they need to grow. Surgery removes the body part that makes the hormone, while drugs can stop hormone production or change the way hormones work. Like chemotherapy, hormone therapy affects all body parts.
Cancers of organs that secrete hormones, such as the prostate, breast and ovary, or organs dependent on hormones, usually are surgically removed or treated with hormones.
