This informational insulin pump group session is designed for children with diabetes who are interested in insulin pump therapy. Parents or support people also should attend. Topics of discussion include understanding what an insulin pump does, questions or concerns about using an insulin pump as part of a diabetes management program, the importance of accurately testing and recording blood glucose, counting and recording carbohydrates, calculating the right dose of insulin, emotional, developmental and family readiness for pump use.
