Carbohydrate choices for sick days

Keeping food down can be difficult when you are sick. Here are some options that your stomach may tolerate. Each contains about 15 grams of carbohydrate.

Carbohydrate choices (15g)
  • 1/2 cup regular soft drink
  • 6 saltine crackers
  • 1/2 cup fruit juice
  • 1 slice dry toast
  • 1 cup soup (not broth)
  • 1/2 cup sweetened gelatin
  • 1/2 cup cooked cereal
  • 1 Popsicle® (60 to 80 calories)
  • 1/2 cup ice cream or frozen yogurt
  • 1 tablespoon honey or sugar
  • 1/4 cup sherbet or fruit ice
