International Diabetes Center’s education programs provide practical, evidence-based information, learning activities and educational tools to help professionals expand their knowledge and improve patient care. With an extensive history of excellence in research and clinical diabetes experience, IDC has a wealth of real-world expertise to share with healthcare professionals and industry organizations.

 

Healthcare Professional Programs

A wide range of education programs are offered for primary care physicians, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, nurses, dietitians, diabetes educators, pharmacists, students and interns. Held on-site, these programs provide both hands-on experience and networking opportunities. Programs are based on current research and practices, and are taught by experienced faculty active in diabetes research, education and care. These programs provide the knowledge and skills needed to improve patient care. 

Foundations for Diabetes Educators offers insights from experts, case studies and hands-on learning to help those who are new to diabetes build a strong foundation in diabetes care and education. 

Advanced Strategies for Diabetes Educators helps those who are experienced in diabetes learn about new technologies and comorbidities. Topics include advanced insulin dose management, continuous glucose monitoring and advanced nutrition. 

Clinical Diabetes Management in Primary Care is for primary care clinicians, emphasizing application though practice-based case studies and in-depth sessions on topics such as insulin therapy, hypertension, lipids and noninsulin therapies. 

IDC Symposium for Advanced Diabetes Educators is our annual symposium for diabetes educators that explores the latest trends in diabetes care and education to keep health professionals up to date. 

Caring for Adult Patients with Diabetes provides an overview of the diabetes care plan, nutrition therapy and classes for medication, for nursing staff and dietitians who care for adult patients. 

Diabetes Care in a Backpack is for school nurses and staff. It deals with management issues for children and adolescents with diabetes, such as psychological concerns, nutrition, medication and diabetes technologies.

IDC also provides international training programs for healthcare professionals practicing outside of the United States. Programs are held both on-location in the host countries and on-site at the IDC. Industry Professional Programs

IDC offers customized industry training programs that include classroom instruction, interactive case studies, patient panel discussions and a review of current research to help organizations meet their marketing or strategic plan objectives. The programs provide a practical understanding of diabetes from the perspective of patients and healthcare providers, which will result in enhanced value in the marketplace.

IDC also offers online training that allows organizations to provide diabetes knowledge to their sales force and others within the organization.

  • Advanced Diabetes Topics for Industry Professionals is for those with extensive field-experience looking to take their diabetes knowledge to the next level.
