Hormone replacement therapy
Early studies showed that hormone replacement therapy (HRT) after menopause might reduce the risk of developing coronary artery disease (CAD) and reduce the progression of atherosclerosis. However, experts now recommend that women do not take HRT for the prevention of primary or secondary heart disease.
Studies also have shown that HRT may result in an increased risk of cancer. Speak with your doctor about HRT, its risks and benefits before undergoing treatment.
