Peripheral arterial disease (PAD) testing
PAD can be accurately measured by simple, noninvasive tests.
-
Segmental pressures, lower extremity, multilevel
Blood pressure cuffs are placed on different parts of the leg, and the circulation in the leg arteries is evaluated. -
Segmental pressures, lower extremity, multilevel with exercise
Blood pressure cuffs are placed on different parts of the leg, and the circulation in the leg arteries is evaluated. You will walk on a treadmill to determine if exercise causes any change. -
Upper extremity arterial duplex/graft bilateral
This test is used to evaluate the circulation and check for blockage in upper arm arteries. This test also may be used to monitor bypass grafts.
Visceral vascular testing
-
Renal artery, renal graft
This test uses ultrasound to evaluate blood flow in arteries in the abdomen that supply blood to digestive organs and kidneys. An ultrasound is an examination using high-frequency sound waves to create visual images. It can be used to evaluate blood flow and blockages in your vessels. During an ultrasound, you will lie on a table and ultrasound gel will be placed on the region to be examined. A transducer (a device to obtain images) will be moved around the area.
Extracranial cerebrovascular testing
-
Carotid, bilateral
This test uses ultrasound to evaluate the blood flow in the arteries in your neck that supply blood to your brain.
Peripheral venous testing
-
Lower extremity venous, vein map
This test uses ultrasound to see inside veins in the legs. It can be used to check for blood clots (deep vein thrombosis). It also can be used for various surgical procedures, such as bypass graft surgery. An ultrasound is an examination using high-frequency sound waves to create visual images.
