Phase I - Inpatient rehabilitation
The educational component of this program discusses ways to reduce risk factors, conserve energy, simplify work, reduce stress and return to activities of daily living. It also covers post-surgical precautions, signs of overexertion and sexuality.
The exercise component of the program helps people ease into exercise and teaches them safe ways to exercise. Our cardiac rehabilitation therapists also provide self-assessment skills and help develop an individual home exercise program. During inpatient rehabilitation, patients are monitored daily for heart rate and blood pressure before and after an activity. At discharge, therapists may recommend home-care therapy or outpatient cardiac rehabilitation, if appropriate.
