Treatment – VNUS® ClosureFast™

Park Nicollet Vascular Surgery uses VNUS® ClosureFast™, the latest minimally invasive surgical treatment, for eliminating painful and unsightly varicose veins. Before and after varicose vein treatment

Benefits

  • Quick recovery time
  • Outpatient procedure
  • Minimal pain
  • Eliminates the need for vein stripping, the painful procedure previously used for removing diseased veins

Park Nicollet’s three board-certified vascular surgeons perform the VNUS ClosureFast treatment more than any other health group in Minnesota.

Steps to relief

The first step to relief from your varicose veins is to get a referral from your primary care doctor for an ultrasound in our nationally accredited vascular lab to determine venous insufficiency.

Next you will meet with a vascular surgeon to confirm if this is the right treatment for you.

If you are a candidate, your procedure will be performed at Park Nicollet Methodist Hospital or Park Nicollet Ambulatory Surgery Center.

About the procedure

During the VNUS ClosureFast procedure, a small catheter is threaded into the diseased vein and radiofrequency (RF) energy is delivered to the vein wall. This causes the wall to close around the catheter. Most patients typically resume normal activities within a day.

Many patients notice an immediate relief of symptoms, such as pain, leg heaviness and fatigue. The full benefits of the procedure may take one week to two weeks.

This VNUS ClosureFast is covered by most medical insurance plans when medical necessity is confirmed.
