Activated employees
If a business can help employees navigate the health care system, will employees be more responsible for their health care, take better care of themselves and be more productive? The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention awarded the Institute a $1.12 million grant to find out.
We will compare standard health promotion, such as health fairs and tobacco cessation classes, against an activated consumer intervention program where employees receive tools to manage their personal health and work with health care providers. Principal investigator Paul E. Terry, PhD, Institute president, leads the research team that includes Christine Taddy; Ted Wegleitner; Jinnet B. Fowles, PhD; and David Knutson; plus university collaborators Jon Christianson, PhD; Robert Jeffery, PhD; and Judith Hibbard, DrPH.
