Patient-centeredness

According to the Institute of Medicine, “Health care should be patient-centered, ensuring that patient values guide all clinical decisions.” To this end, Park Nicollet created a Patient-Centered Innovations program to improve outcomes by increasing interaction and collaboration between patients and providers. Institute researchers and educators play a key role in this initiative as they identify results important to patients, develop tools to help them fully engage in their health care, and support provider teams in understanding and interacting with activated patients.
