Two papers were recognized as Paper of the Year for 2008. The papers represent original research published in high-impact journals and are recognized for their contributions to science and impact on care.

Bergenstal’s article, “Adjust to target in type 2 diabetes: comparison of a simple algorithm to carbohydrate counting for adjustment of mealtime insulin glulisine,” was published in Diabetes Care in April 2008. Co-authors are Mary Johnson, Maggie Powers, Aleksandra Vlajnic, Pricilla Hollander and Marc Rendell.

Schousboe’s article, “Abdominal aortic calcification detected on lateral spine images from a bone densitometer predicts incident myocardial infarction or stroke in older women,” was published in the Journal of Bone and Mineral Research in March 2008. Co-authors are Brent Taylor, Douglas Kiel, Kristine Ensrud, Kevin Wilson and Eugene McCloskey.
