How can using SmartCare save me money?
When you contact SmartCare, we will let you know what you can expect your visit to cost. If you have a sinus infection, you can save significant money by receiving care from a registered nurse instead of a doctor. By making informed decisions you can eliminate surprise medical bills. What if I have a high-deductible health plan?
If you have high-deductible health insurance or pay out-of-pocket for medical expenses, SmartCare offers the ideal way to receive coordinated care. You can control your expenses and make informed decisions. By receiving upfront pricing information, you know what costs to expect when your final medical bill arrives.

If I have health insurance, will you be able to estimate my final cost? Or do I need to call my health insurance provider directly?
Our goal is to be as transparent with pricing as possible. We make every effort to help you understand your financial responsibility for the services we provide. When additional information is needed, we will assist you in reaching out to your insurance provider.

Can I choose whether my care is provided by a doctor, physician assistant, nurse practitioner or registered nurse?
Yes. Our care team will provide you with options for visit types based on your symptoms or condition. We will only provide options we believe to be safe and high quality. You will then be able to choose which team member to schedule your appointment with based on your personal preferences.

How does a video visit work? Do I need a particular type of computer software or phone?
We use a web-based product called VSee for video visits. VSee is fully encrypted and HIPAA compliant, ensuring a secure connection between you and our team members. VSee is free to download to any phone, tablet or computer.

Can I set up an appointment on behalf of my kids or spouse?
If your spouse or child (12 years or older) is also a SmartCare patient, you are welcome to schedule an appointment on his or her behalf.

Are phone, video or MyChart visits offered outside of clinic business hours?
No. At this time we will only be completing visits during clinic hours. We believe our expanded hours will offer you improved access. We make a commitment to respond to MyChart messages within one hour of receipt during normal clinic hours.

Why is this service only offered at your St. Louis Park location?
SmartCare is a pilot that uses an innovative, new care model. As we learn more about this model, we hope to expand it to other Park Nicollet locations.
