Dementia
About 30 percent of people with Parkinson’s experience dementia, a condition that includes memory loss and problems with thinking and judgment. Symptoms of dementia include:
-
loss of memory, especially short-term memory
-
decreased problem solving
-
reduced ability to concentrate
-
confusion
-
suspiciousness, hallucinations and delusions
Medications cannot cause dementia, but some medications used to treat Parkinson’s disease and other conditions can cause hallucinations or confusion. For more information, talk to your doctor or call the center at 952-993-5495 or toll-free at 888-993-5495.
