Park Nicollet Occupational Medicine provides the following injury prevention services and consultations for employers.
Prework screening
Prework screening evaluates employees to determine if they are capable of performing critical physical demands of their work. A prework screening performed following a functional job analysis ensures a match between the employee and the workplace, and meets Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) guidelines.
Self-care training
Occupational therapists assess the current functional status of employees at work, at home or in leisure activities. When problems are identified, treatment and training are assigned to alleviate symptoms and discomfort.
Education
Education is important in preventing workplace injuries. Our rehabilitation consultants identify causes of injuries and help begin educational programs at the workplace. These programs can be customized to meet the individual needs of employers. Topics include preventing back injuries and cumulative trauma injuries.
worksite evaluations
Rehabilitation consultants offer on-site assessment of work duties, employees and worksites. Consultations are available on an individual or departmental basis. Customers receive recommendations on improved work area designs, worksite practices and adaptive equipment.
Functional job analysis
A key component of injury prevention and successful return to work is a thorough knowledge of the job’s physical requirements. A functional job analysis outlines the physical functions, critical physical demands and possible modifications in work tasks. Once developed, functional job analyses can be used for ergonomic interventions, injury prevention education, worksite redesign, job rotation, prework screening and functional job descriptions.
