Joint replacement
Osteoarthritis is the wearing down of joints caused by years of movement. In some cases, a joint can completely deteriorate due to osteoarthritis, and medical treatments may not be able to control the pain. If this occurs, joint replacement surgery is an option.
Joint replacement can significantly reduce the pain of arthritis and may improve joint function. In joint replacement, the damaged joint is removed and replaced with an artificial joint made of metal, titanium or plastic.
