Spinal injections
Spinal injections are performed under fluoroscopy (X-ray video images) to determine the source of and provide relief for back or leg pain. The procedure occurs in an outpatient setting. A local anesthetic, corticosteroid or cortisone, and X-ray dye are injected during the procedure. The corticosteroid or cortisone reduces inflammation in the affected area. The specialist will determine if an injection anesthetic is needed. Spinal injections may be used in combination with other treatments, therapies, and exercises for maximum benefit.
