Osteoporosis

Is osteoporosis like osteoarthritis?

No. Osteoporosis and osteoarthritis are not at all related. They are two totally different conditions.

I have pain in my hip and back. Is it due to osteoporosis?

No. Osteoporosis,  which means "porous bones," is more of a silent disease. It can cause bones to become weak and brittle undetected by you until a bone-insufficiency fracture occurs. People who have osteoporosis and feel sudden pain in their back, pelvis, hip or other area should be seen by a doctor to determine if they have a fracture.
