Laboratory tests
Following is a brief description of some laboratory tests your doctor may order as part of evaluating and treating your rheumatic condition.

Anti-CCP (anti-cyclic citrillunated peptide)
Anti-CCP is a protein and cousin of the rheumatoid factor test (RF). It also is a marker for rheumatoid arthritis and, compared to the RF test, is more specific in people who have rheumatoid arthritis.
Some people who have a negative RF test may have a positive anti-CCP test. This may help to confirm the diagnosis in those individuals. This test may be more useful in people who have negative RF tests early in the course of their illness.
