Pregnancy and travel

If you travel while pregnant, here are some tips to consider.

  • Check with your doctor to make sure no special health care concerns will prevent you from traveling.
  • Try to plan any trips for your second trimester. The second trimester is when most women are most comfortable during pregnancy.
  • Walk around to improve circulation and reduce swelling.
  • Elevate your feet, when possible.
  • Carry light snacks and juice. Special considerations should be taken if you travel while pregnant
  • Check with your doctor before taking motion sickness pills or any other medication.
  • Get enough sleep.
  • Bring a copy of your medical record and get the name of a doctor or facility where you could go for treatment, if necessary.
  • Sit in an aisle seat for the greatest comfort.
