Park Nicollet Health Services completed its Integrated Medical Record (IMR) in 2004. The three-year, $60 million IMR initiative represents the largest suite of projects successfully completed by Park Nicollet. No more shuttling paper records from clinic to clinic. Park Nicollet doctors now have instant access to a patient’s medical record in electronic form.

The American Medical Group Association awarded its most prestigious quality award to Park Nicollet. The 2004 Acclaim Award was given to Park Nicollet for, “Applying Production Principles from Toyota to Improve Patient Care.” The award recognizes Park Nicollet as a national leader in changing health care to make it safer, more reliable and more responsive to patients.

Park Nicollet also was awarded the Patient Choice Gold Award in Comprehensive Disease Management and Innovation in Clinical Quality. The award recognized Park Nicollet’s use of Lean Production to make systemwide care improvements, including reducing wait times for patients, increasing staff satisfaction and productivity, and redesigning work based on customer values.

Struthers Parkinson’s Center was given the “Award of Excellence” from the Minnesota Council on Physical Activity and Sports. This annual award is given to individuals, programs and community groups that improve the health of Minnesotans through physical activity. Struthers offers a variety of innovative movement and exercise programs for people with Parkinson’s, including community exercise groups, t’ai chi, water exercise classes and a therapeutic day program.

Park Nicollet received another three-year accreditation by Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO). The intense nine-day survey took place in late October, early November 2004.
