In 2004, Park Nicollet Health Services and Allina Hospitals & Clinics signed a letter of intent to jointly create a Maple Grove medical campus that would include a hospital. In January 2005, Children’s Hospitals and Clinics joined the partnership. The three-way partnership, named the Tri-Care Partnership, would provide residents in the northwest suburbs direct access to the largest number of highly specialized doctors of any hospital in the Twin Cities metro area.

Park Nicollet launched a new telephone service that provides doctors throughout Minnesota fast, easy access to the skills and experience of Park Nicollet physician specialists. Park Nicollet Navigator helps doctors set up consultations, schedule appointments and locate test results in a timely manner.

Park Nicollet Heart Center at Methodist Hospital, along with Interventional Radiology, began offering heart scans. A heart scan, or coronary artery calcium scoring, is a fast, painless and relatively inexpensive test that uses CT technology to detect calcium buildup in coronary arteries. The heart scan can help determine who is at risk of developing heart disease.

Park Nicollet intensified its efforts in personalizing care and service in 2004. One thousand staff received training that focused on the importance of every patient interaction and how those interactions can form key patient perceptions. The goal is to continue to improve the already high level of service Park Nicollet staff provides by encouraging them to be welcoming, take initiative, be informative and help patients feel better about their visit.
-
The Lean Production system helped Park Nicollet save $7.5 million dollars in 2004. This cost-saving benefit played a role in Park Nicollet achieving a record 3.9 percent operating margin, allowing Park Nicollet to lower some fees for uninsured patients.
