Stewardship

  • Park Nicollet Foundation publicly launched its “make it better” campaign in October 2005. The campaign’s goal is to raise $35 million dollars for six designated case areas – Park Nicollet Cancer Center, Methodist Hospital’s Eating Disorders Institute, Struthers Parkinson’s Center, International Diabetes Center at Park Nicollet, Healthy Community Fund and Patient-centered Research initiative. In 2005, the Foundation raised more than $18.5 million toward its goal.
  • Park Nicollet Foundation distributed $2.9 million through 184 grants in 2005. More than 5,000 grateful patients, families, Park Nicollet doctors and other staff, plus generous donors from the communities we serve, gave to the Foundation.
  • Efforts to improve service through Lean production at Park Nicollet resulted in tremendous reductions in waste in 2005. Highlights of our success include:
    • reduced overall patient lead time by 5,497 hours
    • increased capacity for 138 more patients per day
    • freed up 11,068 square feet of space for new use
    • eliminated 32,612 excess inventory items, totaling $575,000 in savings in one department alone
    • reduced walking distance for staff by 36 miles per day
  • "Celebration for Life" gala celebrated its 25th anniversary in 2005. Attendance was one of the largest ever and the gala raised more than $440,000 to help support innovations in health care.
  • St. Louis Park, Minn., home to Park Nicollet Clinic and Methodist Hospital, was named one of the 100 Best Communities for Young People in America. Three programs that helped the city earn this honor are supported by Park Nicollet Foundation’s Healthy Community Fund. The winners were announced in the Sept. 26 issue of Newsweek and were honored in Washington, D.C., in November.
  • Financial rating company Standard & Poor’s (S&P) increased Park Nicollet’s credit rating in 2005. S&P cited improved patient quality, positive momentum and the benefits of Lean production as reasons for raising Park Nicollet’s rating from “A-“ to “A”. The improved credit rating is a sign of Park Nicollet’s sound financial management.
