Advancement
We constantly look for ways to accommodate the many changing needs of our patients. Park Nicollet marked several beginnings in 2007. We are building new facilities that will provide more comprehensive care for patients with cancer and eating disorders.
Construction began on Park Nicollet Frauenshuh Cancer Center on Park Nicollet Methodist Hospital's campus in November. Research suggests 50 percent of Minnesotans will be diagnosed with invasive cancer in their lifetime. To make sure we can serve these patients in the most caring, effective way possible, we are combining and expanding on cancer services, currently offered at two locations, into one comprehensive center. Doctors and others from many specialties will work closely together and bring services to patients in a soothing, healing, environment. We're also working on greater integration of the latest research and treatments, plus improved access to spiritual care, music therapy, psychotherapy, support groups and education.
Also opening in 2009, Park Nicollet Melrose Institute is a place for patients, families and our health care professionals to work as a team to treat and heal eating disorders. Melrose Institute is an expansion of Methodist Hospital Eating Disorders Institute, which has provided care to people with eating disorders in the Upper Midwest since 1986. The 67,000-square-foot, three-floor center will be in St. Louis Park, Minnesota. Inpatient and outpatient programs, with specialized treatment plans and family focused care, will be included. The facility will have a chapel, conference center, solarium, healing gardens and outdoor dining area.- Park Nicollet is planning to triple the size of its Park Nicollet Clinic—Maple Grove, in one of two ways. Build a new, 90,000- to 120,000-square-foot clinic or connect a new 60,000- to 90,000-square-foot space to the current clinic. Planning continues in 2008.
