Community

Part of our mission is to support the health and learning of the community. Educating the public about health is a way we give to those we serve.

  • StayHealthy Minnesota is a partnership between Park Nicollet, WCCO-TV and the Star Tribune. We promote health education and awareness by choosing different health care topics that affect our community. People can use this information to make well-informed decisions about their health. Visit stayhealthymn.com for health tips and more from Park Nicollet doctors and other health care specialists. Topics change every month.
  • Park Nicollet received its first Excellence in Youth Employment Services Award from the Minnesota Valley Electric Cooperative (MVEC). The award recognizes Park Nicollet's programs for at-risk youth to explore careers in health care. In the past, Park Nicollet has partnered with Dakota County Workforce Services and Tree Trust, Carver-Scott Educational Co-op, and Scott County Employment and Training.
  • Park Nicollet encourages its employees to take part in fundraising and charity events that take place throughout the city. In 2007, our staff took part in the Twin Cities Walk for Parkinson's Disease, as well as the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure. We also joined Habitat for Humanity in October in Chaska where we helped a local family build its first home.
  • Park Nicollet Heart and Vascular Center conducted three community presentations in Chaska, Mound and Burnsville, Minnesota, to tell women and loved ones about the danger of heart disease, and how to prevent it.
  • To help raise breast cancer awareness, Park Nicollet Jane Brattain Breast Center, KS95 and Dunn Bros. teamed up for the "Catch it Early: Drink Pink" campaign. Proceeds from the sale of raspberry white mocha drinks at Dunn Bros. went to the center. The money will provide the latest breast cancer screening and diagnostic equipment to women in our community.
  • Park Nicollet Foundation's partnership with St. Mary's Health Clinics allowed more than 2,000 patients to receive care at Park Nicollet clinics and Park Nicollet Methodist Hospital. More than 4,900 clinic visits and 8,400 prescriptions were provided at no charge to these uninsured patients. Two Park Nicollet locations also were added to the St. Mary's program in 2007. This is just one of the ways our Foundation helps "make it better" (PDF) for our communities.
