The year ahead

Every day we care for our patients and strive to support the health, healing and learning of those we serve. We have a five-year plan dedicated to improving care and making us the best health care system in the Twin Cities. The first year of this new plan is 2008.

In 2008, we want to achieve the following.

1. Outstanding quality of care. Park Nicollet is always looking for ways to improve quality in all aspects of care. By ensuring a high standard of quality, we develop a mindset that allows us to keep making improvements, which in turn provides the best medical care to our patients. One way we are improving care is to enhance the way we treat several diseases and complications, such as diabetes. We also are improving the way we treat depression, hypertension and other diseases and conditions.
2. Patient satisfaction. Our patients' happiness and health is important to us. Our staff is working toward making sure we reach our goals. We do this by monitoring patient surveys and using that feedback to enhance the way we deliver personalized health care services.
3. Patient cost. Health care costs are a growing concern for all Americans. We want to be part of the solution. We are working hard to reduce costs of care by eliminating waste, reducing cost and more. This includes participating in innovative programs, such as Carol.com, an exciting new venture that allows people to shop online to compare prices and services for select care packages from 31 health care providers in the Twin Cities, Minnesota.
4. Growth. Park Nicollet continues to expand to meet our communities' needs. With 25 clinics across Minneapolis and its suburbs and doctors in 45 specialties and subspecialties, plus excellent standards of care, we are truly an organization that provides all aspects of health care to our patients and community.
5. Transparency and the extension of online communications. We are giving patients the resources to make well-informed decisions about their care and to manage their health care dollars. We also are sharing the price of procedures and other services on our Web site and more.
