My Areas of Practice
Patients with work-related injuries have been the prime focus of my medical practice for more than thirty years. I'm interested in back and neck strains, joint sprains, and other workplace trauma, as well as work-related exposure to infectious diseases, and some toxic exposures. I also do DOT exams (truck-driver / bus-driver physicals).
My own industrial roots and pre-medical-school work experience in manufacturing help me to understand the physical demands of my patients' jobs. I'm committed to making the return-to-work process as smooth, timely, and safe as possible.

I chose occupational medicine for the excitement of investigating real mysteries and discovering new work-related illnesses; luckily for all of us, there aren't many of these. Also, I found helping people get back to work after ordinary injuries to be very satisfying. Every job has its own physical demands and every patient is an expert on his or her own job. My challenge is to learn what the patient's job requires and figure out work restrictions and treatment that allow a safe return to work. I'm an enthusiastic cyclist, both for commuting to work and for bicycle vacations with my husband, and we have a side interest in using bicycles and trikes for rehabilitation. In my remaining spare time, I enjoy gardening and taking care of my parrots.
