Our practice sees a wide variety of digestive and gastrointestinal disorders: in outpatient management in clinics at HVC, Burnsville, and Maple Grove; in procedures ranging from EGD, capsule endoscopy, and colonoscopy to endoscopic ultrasound and ERCP, to esophageal manometry and Bravo pH testing; and in consultation. for hospitalized patients. I see patients at Burnsville on Wednesdays and Fridays, work an occassional weekend at Methodist Hospital, and see patients at HVC the remainder of the time.
It is challenging to manage chronic GI disorders, whether structural or functional, but this is my personally favorite area of GI practice. Liver and pancreas disease, inflammatory bowel disease, irritable bowel syndrome, esophageal disorders and dysphagia, and chronic constipation, diarrhea, abdominal pain and bloating are among my favorite types of conditions to treat. Because communication is so vital in treating these conditions, I try to optimize methods of communication with the patient, particularly using the after visit summary where you can always find my recommendations from the visit; MyChart messaging; and phone calls through our nursing staff.
I would like to explore ways of being a more of a partner with, and a resource for, primary care provders and internists who direct the overall patient's care, as well as develop closer relationships with treatment team members such as radiology, nutrition, physical therapy and mental health.
