My Areas of Practice

Our practice sees a wide variety of digestive and gastrointestinal disorders: in outpatient management in clinics at HVC, Burnsville, and Maple Grove; in procedures ranging from EGD, capsule endoscopy, and colonoscopy to endoscopic ultrasound and ERCP, to esophageal manometry and Bravo pH testing; and in consultation. for hospitalized patients. I see patients at Burnsville on Wednesdays and Fridays, work an occassional weekend at Methodist Hospital, and see patients at HVC the remainder of the time.

It is challenging to manage chronic GI disorders, whether structural or functional, but this is my personally favorite area of GI practice. Liver and pancreas disease, inflammatory bowel disease, irritable bowel syndrome, esophageal disorders and dysphagia, and chronic constipation, diarrhea, abdominal pain and bloating are among my favorite types of conditions to treat. Because communication is so vital in treating these conditions, I try to optimize methods of communication with the patient, particularly using the after visit summary where you can always find my recommendations from the visit; MyChart messaging; and phone calls through our nursing staff.

I would like to explore ways of being a more of a partner with, and a resource for, primary care provders and internists who direct the overall patient's care, as well as develop closer relationships with treatment team members such as radiology, nutrition, physical therapy and mental health.

Personal

I enjoy working in a clinic setting - it's interesting to meet and work with a large variety of people. Each individual is unique, and i enjoy helping patients find a balanced approach to their health. I feel very fortunate to be part of an organization that so strongly values a positive and caring experience for all patients and their families.

Away from Park Nicollet, I enjoy hiking, skiing, fishing and camping with my husband; gardening; reading; and catching up with my two young-adult daughters. This past autumn, I caught several trophy bass, and a number of other fish, on a camping trip near the Boundary Waters. For once in all my years of "fishing trips" I actually went on a "catching trip" !
