“Perinatal genetic counseling is an opportunity to come alongside families at a very exciting time in their life. While there are risks and bad things that happen, we expect and are able to provide reassurance in a majority of the work that we do.” Dana’s practice seeks to reassure and encourage patients and families as they navigate the options for testing as well as discussing their concerns about their babies.

Dana Brown is originally from South Dakota and attended the University of Nebraska and the University of Wisconsin, Madison. Her genetic counseling career began at Mayo clinic in the molecular genetics laboratory, providing consultation for clinicians from across the country related to DNA testing for their patients. She then was a consultant for Maternal and Child Health programs and the Minnesota newborn screening program. Prior to working with Park Nicollet, she provided clinical genetic counseling services in the OB testing unit, neuromuscular diseases and Huntington disease clinics at HCMC.  When not at Park Nicollet, Dana enjoys running, reading and being a mom to two daughters and her dog “Brooks”. She enjoys traveling with her family, going to the lake, watching college football games, and cheering on the Minnesota Twins.
