Personal

Dawn was raised in Jamestown, North Dakota. Dawn graduated from Concordia College in Moorhead with her undergraduate degree in nursing. In 2003, Dawn graduated with a Master’s Degree from the University of Minnesota where she also taught undergraduate nursing. Before becoming a Certified Nursing Midwife, Dawn was a labor nurse in Fargo, ND and St. Cloud, MN. Dawn chose Midwifery because of her passion and joy for the families she serves and every momentous experience that each woman has. Dawn believes that every woman should have the best care possible and the empowerment to have a healthy birthing experience. “Midwifery provides a holistic approach to the natural processes that surround women from adolescence through menopause.” Dawn is interested in alternative childbirth options. Dawn enjoys working with the Certified Nurse Midwife Services at Park Nicollet because of the cohesive team of Midwives that work together to get to know, understand, and empower the women within their care. She enjoys the teamwork between the Midwives, Nursing Staff, Clinicians, and St. Francis Hospital. When not at Park Nicollet, Dawn loves to volunteer at her children’s school and dreams of being able to do a medical mission trip to a Spanish speaking country. As a student nurse midwife, Dawn won a top SNM research award for research on water birth and its outcomes. Dawn cherishes spending time with her husband and three daughters. Her family enjoys the outdoors, horses, dancing, and sports. Her family would not be complete without the family Border Collie, Belle. Dawn also enjoys biking, hiking, gardening, water skiing at the cabin, and traveling to Spain.
