My Areas of Practice
I practiced internal medicine in Wayzata and at Methodist Hospital.  I retired from full time practice in 1998.  Since then I have worked part time taking care of patients in nursing homes with the aid of nurse-practitioners.  I care for persons in rehabilitation between hospital and home and also persons who need long term nursing home care.  I feel that it is important to nursing home patients to have a physician actually visit them in the nursing home so as to facilitate teamwork with nurse-practitioners, the nursing home staff, and when necessary, with professionals from hospice organizations to make end of life comfortable and dignified.  Not having an office schedule, I have time to spend with patients and families who have difficult and complex situations.

Personal

I have enjoyed teaching medical students and residents in internal medicine and family practice most of my career and held teaching appointments at the University between 1956 and 2007.  Teaching has been at HCMC, Methodist Hospital, and in local nursing homes with the family practice residents.  My wife and I have 5 children and 10 grandchildren.
