My Areas of Practice
I enjoy working with children, adolescents, and families from diverse backgrounds and with a variety of presenting problems. I believe in utilizing a collaborate, egalitarian, and systemic approach focused on understanding individuals in the context of the numerous systems that affect them, including school, community, and the family. I have a strong interest in working with children and adolescents with a history of trauma, abuse, or neglect, and am a certified provider of trauma-focused cognitive behavioral therapy (TF-CBT). In addition, I have received specialized training in parent-child interaction therapy (PCIT) for young children with severe emotional and behavioral problems. I also enjoy working with teens suffering from depression, anxiety, sexual identity concerns, substance abuse, and family conflict. I previously worked in an inpatient hospital setting for children and teens where I gained experience treating youth with emotional dysregulation, self-harm, and suicidality. My theoretical orientation integrates multiple perspectives, including interpersonal, psychodynamic, cognitive-behavioral, feminist, and systems theories.

Personal

I grew up in Farmington, MN and left home at the age of 18 to pursue my passion in child and adolescent psychology. I am very excited to be home and to have the opportunity to give back to my community. I am also the proud mother of a 4 year old girl and enjoy spending my free time playing with her and taking her to family activities in the community. We enjoy outdoor activities, dancing, camping, spending time with family, having dress-up parties, and playing games. In my free time, I also enjoy traveling and reading.
