Nissa has spent over a decade working in women's and children's health. She is a board certified nurse midwife and nurse practitioner with masters degrees from University of Colorado in both the Midwifery and the Women's Health Nurse Practitioner programs. Prior to this, she obtained a bachelors degrees in Nursing and Women's Studies from St. Olaf College. During this time, she also studied health care in India, and two years later, spent the winter volunteering at a children's orphange in Central America. She launched her RN nursing career right here at Methodist's Family Birth Center in 2000. In 2004, she moved with her husband to Colorado, where she helped open University of Colorado Hospital's Birth Center while attending graduate school at University of Colorado. Her midwifery career began with a private practice clinic associated with Littleton Hospital in Colorado. She is ecstatic to be part of the Park Nicollet system again.
After eight years in Colorado, Nissa and her husband are happy to be back in Minnesota with family, especially after the birth of their son in 2012 and daughter in 2014 (both at Methodist with the Park Nicollet Midwives). Her family extends to furry kids--she has adopted a retired greyhound, and has one rambunctious rescued kitty. She loves traveling, animals, live music, and anything outdoors, especially camping and skiing in Colorado, and spending time up north at her cabin.
