Primary Care Pediatrics, Children with Special Health Care Needs, Pediatric Medical Home
The Foundation of my practice is the long-term relationship I form with my patients and their families and that is also the most rewarding part of my job. I view the process of providing care as a partnership and I strive to empower the patient and their family to take an active role in their health care. I believe having good access to your provider and open lines of communication are key. It is important to me to be a good listener because the needs or goals of one particular patient may not be the same as for the next patient; there is no "one size fits all" approach to providing good pediatric care.
My background in and additional role as a Pediatric Medical Home Care Coordinator gives me the opportunity to serve children with special health care needs. I am passionate about making sure that these families don't get "lost in the shuffle." In working with children with chronic conditions, this role allows me to serve as a primary contact point, advocate, and informational resource for the patient and their family. What differentiates this role from my work as a traditional health care provider is its multi-disciplinary approach to make sure the child's comprehensive needs are met, including working with specialists, community programs and resources, and school systems.
I work with pediatric patients of all ages (newborns to adolescents) and with families across a diverse range of cultural and familial backgrounds.
