My Areas of Practice

I enjoy helping people and being a RN Care Coordinator (RNCC).   I listen to learn about a person and their chronic condition.  Together we take it step-by-step and work as a team with the Primary Care Physician or Nurse Practitioner by putting the patient at the center of the team.   Some people like to bring a family member to appointments and I encourage that as another set of eyes and ears can really help.  A health history is important and so much information is exchanged that an extra listener and even 'note taker' can really be helpful.

As a RNCC, I can guide patients to consider lifestyle choices, community classes, county programs and many other things, but they are the ones to do the hard work to improve or stay healthy.  Self-care, dignity and normalization are main principles that guide my practice and I believe that personal health is quite an intimate aspect of of person's life which requires respect and appreciation for each unique person.

The Family Medicine Patient Partner group is chaired by me every month and and I love hearing ideas and input from the patient's point of view .  Patients are an underused resource and Patient Centered Care is a new movement and shift in healthcare that I welcome for easier and better care.
