Personal

My inspiration to become a midwife began after the birth of my first child in 1994, with a certified nurse-midwife. Over the last 11yrs, I have worked with women and their families as a labor and delivery nurse and nurse-midwife, where I have had the opportunity to work with communities of low and high- risk diverse needs. After completing my Nursing degree at the College of St. Catherine’s –Minneapolis in 1999, I received my Bachelors of Science in Nursing from the University of Nebraska Medical Center in 2005, then completing my goal in becoming a nurse midwife in 2010, by receiving my a Master’s of Science in Nurse-midwifery degree from the University of Minnesota. My passion and my years of experience working women and their families are invaluable and have contributed to my philosophy that every individual should be treated as a whole. I believe that care should be completely individualized by giving personal attention to the woman’s physical, psychological and social well-being from adolescence, birth and beyond through menopause. I am honored to provide continuous support during labor, birth and postpartum and have extensive experience providing alternative birth options. I am an advocate for mother/baby bonding at birth and beyond. I feel so fortunate to serve women and their families during the momentous joy of welcoming their baby into the world. I enjoy spending time with my husband, 16y.o daughter and 10 y.o son who have supported me during my journey in becoming a midwife. I believe that in order to take care of other’s , it is important to take care of yourself. I do this by doing yoga, kick boxing, walking, gardening and eating organic.
