My Areas of Practice

I consider myself a life long learner and believe my career path demonstrates that.  Professionally, my experience is vast.  I have been a medical-surgical hospital staff nurse, oncology (cancer care) and hospice nurse, a labor and delivery nurse, a postpartum and newborn nurse, as well as a nurse manager, before becoming a Nurse Practitioner (NP).

As a Women’s Health NP I have provided comprehensive obstetric and gynecology care in both the hospital and clinic setting.  In addition, I have been a nursing faculty member teaching Maternal/Child health to RN students and have also worked with NP students in the clinic setting.

I have dedicated my career to caring for women, during all phases of their life, and I am excited to be part of the Park Nicollet breast health team.  I believe that education is an essential component in providing high quality health care and work very hard at making sure patients understand all of the issues surrounding their care.  I look forward to caring for you.

Research & Publications

My research interests focus on screening for, the prevention of, and early diagnosis of breast cancer.  I have a particular interest in developing a breast health risk assessment tool that can be utilized as part of all routine preventitive care.  I am currently involved in a pilot project to screen all breast cancer patients for lymph edema to aide in prevention and early treatment of this condition.

Personal

I am a native Minnesotan and proud of it!  I cannot think of a better place to live...  I enjoy all of the seasons Minnesota gives us.  When not at Park Nicollet, I enjoy being active and spending time out doors.  I love puttering in my garden in the summer.  I dig up and rearrange flowers like they are pieces of furniture in my living room, and think nothing beats eating a juicy ripe tomato right off the vive!  I have a special place in my heart for the North Shore of MN and enjoy hiking and canoeing.  I have volunteered for many years at YMCA Camp Menogyn, in a remote boundary waters camp setting, providing medical care for campers age 13-18 and the camp staff.  And, of course, one can't live in Minnesota and not find joy in the winter... My favorite winter activity is cross country skiing in one of our many beautiful state parks.  Yeah Minnesota!
