Growing up in public housing in Chicago I had many childhood role models that encouraged me to work hard to accomplish my goals. After high school I attended a Community College and earned an Associate's Degree in nursing which bought me to a 9 year career at Minneapolis Children's Hospital and Clinics in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit. During this time I earned a Bachelor's Degree in Nursing from Bethel University in St Paul Minnesota. I was grateful for my years of service in the PICU at Minneapolis Children's and my desire to provide care for mom's and babies increased; In 1999 I graduated from the University of Minnesota with a Master's Degree in Nursing with a speciality in Midwifery.
I joined the Certified Nurse Midwives Service at Park Nicollet Clinic in 1999. Since joining Park Nicollet I have had the joy of a vocation that is exciting with something new each day. My approach to midwifery focuses on giving patients options that are holistic and natural in their pregnancy and labor. Delivering babies is a wonderful part of my life; however that is only part of what defines my practice. I am interested in hearing each woman's story whether it is providing prental care or an office visit for a physical.
I am interested in caring for all women with a particular interest in the adolescent/teen and the woman who is going into her perimenopausal years. I love working for an organization that not only seeks to play a major health care role in the community, but also strives to make sure the patient is given the best in technological advances as well as a holistic approach to healthcare.
I enjoy my time away from practice by mentoring young people, volunteering with nonprofit organizations serving, traveling to third world countires to extend my professional knowledge, spending time outdoors backpacking and loving every moment with my grandchildren.
